Saturday Evening in Sunday Finest

The shadows on my legs are from a cast iron fence out of the photos...
Lacey powder pink top, peplum skirt, vintage hat, cameo necklace...these are a few of my favorite things!

My nails have lil shamrocks on them.  :)
I wore this little ensemble to church this past Saturday to celebrate coming back to choir after a bad cold kept me away for two weeks.

My husband took these photos of me.

However--not to sound overdramatic--these photos of me smiling in this sophisticated outfit are only tearing my heart apart, now.  I didn't know when these were taken what would happen a few hours later.
I don't need to burden you with my personal problems; suffice to say that, because of a very traumatic event, I have been in the process of divorcing my husband.  This particular event is not the only reason for the divorce, merely the tipping point.  (Trust me, any fellow Christians reading my blog, that my reasoning for divorce is biblically acceptable.)

To throw a little dark humor out there: it's really too bad I'll never be able to re-wear this pretty outfit because of the bad memories associated with it.  :)
Or maybe some day I will be able to.  We'll see.

I've really never given you guys quality photos of this phenomenal coat! such a travesty!
Isn't it glorious?

Everything is thrifted except the Shoes (Payless) and necklace (gift), and even those things are from high school.

Anyway, I want to apologize; after this post, my blogging is probably going to be quite sporadic for a few months.

+sigh+ I've never had a good St. Patty's Day...Oh, well...There's always next year, right?

Da ba dee, da ba die...

I'm blue (da ba dee, da ba die)...

Now there's color I don't actually wear much.  But when I do, I guess I do it like I do everything: according to the adage "go big, or go home."

Behold: an ALL BLUE outfit!

Of course, since I was wearing all blue, I had to throw the red bag in.  Love this bag.

I love textures, and lace is one of my favorites. Chambray is also ridiculously huge in fashion right now, which is great, because it's so easy to work with!

Simple outfit formula, here: [chambray] shirt + [lace] pencil skirt
Add bookend-ing statement necklace and shoes, and you've got an easy outfit that speaks volumes!

This outfit was work on a ridiculously warm day this January, so I actually could rock bare legs! +sigh+ (Of course, now it's back down to normal January temperatures. You know: 2 degrees with a 15-below windchill.)

Goodnight  ;)

Haute Faerie Dust

This outfit didn't translate into photos very well...That's always so depressing.

It's a simple outfit, but in person I promise it packs a lot of visual punch. I know it's pale in color, and very plain, but it's all about the movement!  This top is so light, so ethereal, it flows around the body like water.  I was walking, and the "wings" of the top were billowing out on either side of me, and it made me feel like one Haute Faerie.

It was nice to have my legs out again for this 65 degree weekend in November.

Playing tourist in my hometown with a cup of hot chocolate from our local Roastery.

Annnnnd the sidewalk is now my runway.  I should work on my "model walk" hahaha I'm so good at it when my hubby isn't snapping photos of me with my phone, and then I simply suck at it when he is...What's the sense in that???  Come on, self!  I used to act on stage in front of a live audience and not get as nervous; how come I get stage fright in front of a little camera?  Anybody else suffer from camera shyness?

Keepin' it goin' with the "faerie dust" motif, here's a detail of my mani:
two layers of Sally Hansen "Red Carpet" with a layer of Milani "Silver" glitter polish in between.
Got the idea from Pinterest.  Yaaaaay! Something off of Pinterest I actually got off my butt and did!  Although...I'm pretty sure I was sitting while painting my nails...buuuuuut you know what I mean.

THANKS for reading!

Lace Shorts in October

We have been blessed with a couple of warm, WARM days this week (pray it stays this lovely for my move this weekend).  Amazing for a Wisconsin Fall!  It was warm enough for shorts and t-shirts!
So I got to debut the shorts I snagged off the end-of-season clearance rack at Marshall's a bit sooner than next year.  YAY!

I was seriously envying these lacey shorts on other girls this summer.  Most of my shorts are denim...more in the American classic laid-back style (which rocks: don't get me wrong), but I really wanted a pair of shorts that could be more ladylike, like these.
I still kept their debut laid-back enough, though, by wearing a button-up (floral print, yes, but still...).

It's a Mary Tyler Moore thing.

My mama was snapping some shots of this outfit at the strip mall after we had a lunch date (hoity-toity ladies-who-lunch, that's what we are), and a gentleman walking into a shop called out, "Looks like a Mary Tyler Moore thing!"  I shouted back, "I do my best!" while thinking to myself, YES, now I don't need to think of a title for my blog post!  That's always the hardest part for me.  Don't know why.

The fabric is light as air (and quite sheer WHEE).

This outfit is a pleasure to wear.  And it made a couple of little old ladies very happy to see it, too!  :)  That's my favorite.  I'm hoping it reminded them of their past...

I've noticed that, while some fashionistas would take this dress and try to update it and make it modern, I'm not like that.  I'm aware of fashion and trends and stuff, but there're several reasons I call this blog a personal style blog and not a fashion blog.  One of these reasons is that when I wear vintage, I try to keep the rest of my outfit as authentic-looking as possible.  I don't mix time periods.  And I don't feel costume-y when I wear this stuff; in fact--I'm proud to say--I feel most comfortable wearing vintage and retro styles.  It makes me feel pretty and happy.  So why throw on a leather biker jacket and ruin that [just to be hip]?  But, that's just me.  :)  If you're one of those fab fashionistas who likes to twist things to modern, go for it!  I admire those sensibilities, 'cuz I don't have them.  (Never fear: there IS a biker jacket in my wardrobe; you'll see it some other day.)

This dress is a new favorite for sure.  I don't wear a lot of blue, but this periwinkle shade is a winner!  Especially when my skin returns to its typical pallor--er, excuse me--alabaster state, I think the result will be quite an ethereal aura.  Well, I hope so... At least, a girl can dream.

Beauty in the details...

Before I sign off, I just wanted to thank everyone who's helped get me to 40 followers on GFC!  I've only been blogging (part-time, as I can) for a few months, and already I've got 40 people who care to read it.  :)  I'm flattered...

Well, I'll see you later!  If you want to see me sooner (haha) go ahead and follow me on Twitter/Instagram/Pinterest!  I'm kind of especially addicted to Instagram right now...  @spritzy88

Get on your dancin' shoes and your bobby-socks!

So the day seems grey?
Well, you just let it know that--for you and me--there is no such thing as a boring, dull, grey day!
Take that middle-muddle of a puddle-y grey day, and
show it what it really is meant to be:

It's not really just an in-between,
muddle-y shade of grey

~but actually ~

snazzy
BLACK and WHITE
mixed together!

This was the first outing for these shoes, but they were a huge hit with everyone who saw them.  I'm thrilled about them!  They make even my humungous feet look relatively small.
And they'll be great for fall: menswear is still going strong as a trend (I think that--for the truly stylish--menswear will always be around), and the fall runways/magazine spreads are mostly BLACKonBLACKonBLACKonBLACK.  What a change from the neons and brights we've been seeing!
But anyway, I have a feeling that these shoes will look fab poking out from a black wide-leg trouser.

I'm also looking forward to paring them with a floral print dress (on the comPLETE flip side) with lacey bobby socks (like I have on in these photos).
But for this day, my fave burgundy shorts served me well yet again.

Posing for my mom at McDonald's.
Yeah: we's classy.
Had waaaay too much fun editing all my "bobby-soxer-meets-schoolboy" (how do I come up with these things???) photos...Hope you enjoy!
