Uptown-Downtown

What happens when I purchase a backless, sequined LBD at the thrift store?  Well...actually, it hangs in my closet for almost a year while I figure out how to style it.  But I finally did, and I feel that the wait was SO WORTH IT.

OH!  Self-timer, you caught me on my phone! ...not staged, I swear.  :-P

The whole super-dressy bottom/super-casual top thing has been a HUGE PHENOMENON recently.  During fashion weeks around the world, this combination filled the lenses of street style photographers.

I totally DIY-ed this collar.  :)  I cut it off an old shirt and put the studs on the tips.  I think it's too cute!!!  And cost me approximately $3.00 all told.

Whatcha think???

Audrey-Gone-Rock (Subtitled: a Little Bit Chanel)

Apparently also Subtitled: Fun Poses for You!!!

I love this outfit.  It gives a nod to high fashion with a mixture of texture (bracade shoes, tulle skirt, cotton tee) and unexpected juxtapositions (pearls + AC/DC = what?), but it's totally wearable!  Miraculous.  Soooo happy it jumped out of my closet today.

JUST NOW also Subtitled: Classy and Sassy.

SO.  After I took my shoes off to snap this shot, a gust of wind blew one of them off the deck railing, and it toppled into a flowering bush below!  Poor thing; and this was it's first outing, too!  Hopefully it won't be too scared to come out and play again, soon.  So I had to go on an excursion to find it.  By the end, it and I were covered in little white petals and pollen, but the whole thing was worth it, because I got to pull a 'Holly Golightly' in my Audrey-gone-rock ensemble and say "There you are, you sneak!" to a black kitten-heeled shoe.  Too perfect.
Did some baby-doll makeup to go with this outfit: plenty of blush, plenty of shine, plenty of mascara!

L-O-V-E this new lipstick!  It's the perfect shade of coral!
Also: real quick: I need to feature my nails!!!  I took these polishes:
both are by Sinful Colors
(the one in back is just a generic clear topcoat)
And created a metallic gradient effect on my tips.

Sweet, huh?
Anyway, I've put you guys through enough this post.  I mean, you had to deal with TWO photos of my face; I realize the usual one is rough enough, so I'll just throw the Rundown out there and sign out!  Love you all!

Memories of Mexico

FINALLY had someone who took me seriously enough to take good photos of me!!! Thanks, Piera!  They look pretty.  :)

It was really bright outside (yay!), so I'm all squinty...but oh well!  SO worth it!!!

Fun Fact: I bought this skirt years ago for a mission trip down to Mexico.  We [physically] built a church in a teeny town.  Played with lots of new friends, including tarantulas, cockroaches, and wild pigs haha... It was over 100 degrees every day, and we weren't allowed to wear anything that showed our legs above the ankles.  I first bought this skirt to wear to worship services there.  I thought it was soooo ugly (since it totaly wasn't mainstream style then).  Now I adore it!  It's amazingly lightweight, and I think the print is beautiful!

It's been in the 50s and 60s!  The actual First Day of Spring is coming up on the 20th...anyone else counting down???

cyanide sweet tooth suicide

Thought of that title because I'm rocking candy colors today.  and because my outerwear look is so different from the feel of what I'm wearing under it...you'll see what I mean.

Here are swatches of the colors I'm wearing:

Smooshed all together like that, they remind me of the patchwork elephant book.

Anyway: ON TO THE CLOTHING!

I was trying for a soft '50s look.
Makes me want to crank some Frank Sinatra tunes...I love Old Blue Eyes.

YELLOW MANICURE
Just for fun.  I can't wear yellow clothes because of my skin tone, so I wear it on my nails when I need some sunshine.  I really need some right now: we're starting to hit the doldrums of winter. As a bonus: you get a bit better view than usual of my wedding ring.  :)
Both my hubby and I thought I was gonna be a solitaire-in-a-plain-band kind of girl...boy were we wong.  Buying this ring together was really when my love for bling began...the ring poisoned me lol

PS--Whenever I say "manicure," I don't mean professionally done.  I may wear a fur coat, but it was thrifted.  I'm not that uppity lol

Anyway, now we transition (not very smoothly) from a sweet, soft, pastel palette to THIS:

This is kinda like: rarr I punch you in the face with elegance!
A more educated way of saying that is: instead of soft elegance, it's stark elegance.  lol  I like them both.

Love these earrings...they remind me of the pair pictured below
that Audrey Hepburn (my forever idol) wore in Sabrina.
