Newcomers to the (Ef)Face: Check These Out!

The Nerd I

Listening to a lot of Moxy Fruvous.  <3

The Nerd I...because, yesssss, yes there will be more!  My truly nerdy brain is already formulating more nerdy costumes...The trick will be not looking "hipster."

LIKE MY PURPLE PANTS??  I do.

Also, if you look closely enough: my shirt is vertically pinstriped with black, and the scarf has little white polka-spots.  I had fun.  :)

And I decorated the house for Christmas today!!! and bought my hubby's present!!!

Confession/Plea

Like my new little bangs? I do.  :)

Anyway, I was feeling very strongly like I needed to make a confession:

I have not been dressing the way I want to lately.

I have been allowing the cold, yucky weather to effect my mood and have not been creative enough to assemble warm AND chic ensembles.  I have fallen into the winter doldrums (of wearing jeans and a frumpy sweater) already, and it's only November.
None of my accessories seem to be bailing me out...I feel dull, and my clothes reflect it, and then the cycle never ends, because I never take myself out of it.

I NEED HELP.

How do you beat the cold weather blues?
Are there some key chic peices that never let you down?
Is there a cold-weather outfit that keeps you warm (and feeling hott while you wear it)?
Is there an accessory out there that you find spruces up even the frumpiest sweater?

the hairless wonder

Did I mention I am MAKE-UP-LESS as well?  Ouch.  But I just wanted to share my new way of wearing my hair. Or rather, not.

I'm doing a LOT of filing today at work, so I really couldn't wear legitimate clothes.  So I stole my hubby's sweatshirt and am wearing about 50 bagillion layers, 'cuz it's frigid in the garage (where we keep our filing cabinets).

Hullo.

Been reading a lot of Sherlock Holmes recently.  I wanted to look rather like a rascally British schoolboy...not sure it came across.
The tie is the only one I could find (my hubby's); I would have liked a different color...a print with browns and blacks would have served my outfit better.  And maybe a patch on the sweater...and if the sweater were a cardigan...{sigh}

Sweater: H&M
Collared Shirt: Express
Tie: Apt.9 (MESSY ON PURPOSE [my hair is, too])

VETERAN'S DAY

BEFORE anything else: I would like to thank all of you brave men and women who serve our country.  I (we all) owe you honor for your courage and sacrifice.

I also have a wedding to attend today: so here is my ensemble.  Dressing for a November wedding was tricky: it's cold up here in Wisconsin!
But LOOK at this dress!  My favorite that I own...the little collar screams "Audrey Hepburn" to me.

Dress: vintage
Belt: White House | Black Market
Handbag: vintage
Watch: Wal*Mart
Tights: Kohl's
Shoes: Anne Klein 2

Had to feature my grandmother(RIP)'s gloves. And this makeup look is just adding black liner, mascara, and RED lipstick to my basic Nude Eye.

the Nude Eye

I believe I have finally mastered (measured only by my own expectations) the Nude Eye (aka: How to Wear Makeup Without it Looking Like You are Wearing Makeup 101).

Walkthrough:
-Sparkly beige all over the lid and just above it.
-Grey applied with an angled brush to the outer corner and blended up into the crease (stop the grey about halfway across).
-White at the inner corners, under the eyebrows, and at the center of the lid.
-Brown shadow under the eyes close to the outer half of the lashline.
-Line with black SHADOW (not liner) using a liner brush.  Only line the outer corners.

For the rest of the face:
-Make sure you have already applied foundation/concealer before you do the eyes.
-Use a light pink blush very subtley on the apples of your cheeks, sweeping it up to your temples.  Dab a little blush just above your eyebrows, as well.  (I'm a HUGE fan of blush: without it, I would look like a ghost.)
-Use a tinted lip balm on your lips.

I'm not the real makeup expert: my gal, Kelsey is!  Check out the makeover she gave me here.  It's a bit more dynamic and fun than this tutorial I'm subjecting you to!

Also: since this IS a style blog, if you want the full effect of the outfit I wore that day, here you go:

I love rainy days.

Got a little model-y for these photos...(sorry?)

Anyway, a perfect ensemble for a rainy day such as today!  Cute, fun, colorful, comfy, warm...I always dress cute on rainy days: it makes me happy to run errands even in wet weather (I hate wetness, but I love rain).

One Last Time...

I'm going bare-legged! Probably for the last time this year...
My aunt liked my outfit today.  Probably because my scarf is leopard-print, and she's the queen of animal prints!

Also: sorry you see this dress a lot...but its one of my favorites!

Scarf: ?
Bracelet: gift
Dress: Express

the Hubby Shirt

It beats "the Boyfriend Shirt" by a LOT.
Especially when your hubby has crazy taste...or even more especially when you help him shop (and mmayybe choose only shirts for him that you would also not mind wearing).

The most comfortable ensemble I've ever created.  And I still feel OK going out and about in it!  (Take THAT sweatpants-and-hoodie!)

And my apologies for the poor lighting in this photo...I took this one in my bedroom...   >_<;;;
