One is constantly hearing about the LBD. It's a classic, and a staple for sure. BUT we mustn't forget it's lighter counterpart: the little WHITE dress (or LWD, as I call it).
As a girl who wears white a lot, I find this to be more versatile and essential even than the LBD. It's definitely easier to transition from day to night than an LBD.
Starting things off here with a sweet, vintage look. It just drips ladylikeness...
To recreate: put a long coat over your basic LWD and add some matching pumps.
If you have a hat or fascinator (as shown): awesome! If not: try a fancy hairdo with a clip (flower or bow), and some sparkly stud earrings for a bit of elegant bling.
TIP: when matching color, vary texture.

Here's a super-chic work outfit.
To be right on trend for summer and fall 2013, black and white is your color scheme of choice! Also, if you want to keep it traditional and classic, black and white is your color scheme of choice! It's a win-win!!!
Also: keep pattern-mixing in mind (here I've added a dash of leopard, since they're saying animal prints can be treated like neutrals, now).
TIP: to make sure the impression you're giving off is a put-together one, coordinate everything that goes INSIDE your work tote, as well (tablet and cell phone covers, notebook covers, pens, makeup case, etc.)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Another work outfit (this time a bit more casual: for a normal workday instead of a big meeting).
To duplicate this look, simply layer a printed blazer over the dress. Keep the accessories neutral, but not boring. The combination will be professional without being drab.
TIP: minimize jewelry at work (especially when wearing a printed blazer as shown). Jewelry can sometimes be an accident waiting to happen (ie: necklaces caught in shredders, dangly earrings smashing you in the face, rings making it hard to hold a pen, etc.)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Here's the look where you can let the dress (and you) shine.
For a night out, keep it classy and unexpected with an LWD instead of an LBD. Throw on some sexy, barely-there sandals and some gold (or rose-gold) punk-chic jewelry--don't forget the red lip--and you have one fierce ensemble!
TIP: make sure to give your skin plenty of TLC and moisturization if you're gonna leave some of it hangin' out.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
And now for the easiest, breeziest of looks!
Put on a denim or chambray button-up, cinch your waist with a belt, and throw on a fedora and some cute wedges or flats.
This look will carry you everywhere that could be on your summer destination list: the park, the beach, a concert, a barbecue, a date, (you get my drift...).
TIP: put loads of mascara on (you don't want to lose your eyes in the shadow of the hat's brim), but not much other makeup.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
And last--but not least--we have a simple hippie/boho look.
These looks never got out of style for summer.
Y'all know the drill: lots of leather, lots of fringe, lots of jewelry, no-muss, no-fuss, and a printed floaty cape or cardi (some kind of drapey thing).

Oh, and you should most definitely try the self tanner I did my review on. I think it would work amazing on you too.
