Newcomers to the (Ef)Face: Check These Out!

Forward

Who doesn't LOVE this coat?  I bought it this weekend.  I am so in love with it.
Wait 'til I'm able to really feature it later....you'll really see why, then.
Forward.  It's where and how I'm going.

For the following few photos, I posed alongside the graceful and resolute Lady Forward outside of our state's capitol building.  I didn't know who she was at the time, or what she represented, but after I did my research, I realized how apropos it was for me to have posed next to her during this period in my life and while wearing punchy chiffon under a perfect blue sky in a city full of personality and color and light.

There was a couple playing some super-cute football on the grass, and a teal-haired girl strumming chords on a guitar just out of the frames of these photos.  It was so...good.

Photos are credited to Piera (you remember her? she's appeared on my bloggity-blog before), who dressed adorably hipster for the day.  And--playing tourist in her hometown--we walked down the street being what we have always been: kindred souls as outwardly different as two people can be.  One fair and lean dressed in leather and chartreuse, one dark and voluptuous wearing a fairy dress and plaid shirt.
Yeah.  That's how we roll.

Prettymuch says it all for me right now.
I found this on Pinterest, and printed it out.  It's now framed on my nightstand.
Don't worry: it's not actually coffee in that cup.  The world is not ready for Caitlin on caffeine.
(It's a vanilla steamer with extra vanilla...boy, did Piera give me grief about that.  Yes, yes, I'm just THAT vanilla.)

So. When I first announced my divorce proceedings to you guys, I was still in the hollowed-out, emotionless stage of things.  I expected to emerge from that stage into a heart-broken, gut-twisting depression.  Instead, if you can't tell, I'm finding myself in a good place.  God is blessing me through this more than I ever thought possible with good feelings, and overwhelming love and support from my family and friends.

I'm happy deep down in my bones, and I can't ever remember feeling so peaceful.

And instead of blacker, my outfits seem to get more and more colorful.  That's gotta mean something good, eh?  WHO THOUGHT I WOULD EVER WEAR CHARTREUSE??!!  I certainly didn't.

  1. Adorbs! Both of you :) That chartruse is an alarming color, but you have just the right chutzpah to pull it off, and the black jacket and accessories are way classy with it. Piera is gorgeous as Always.
I'm glad you're still doing well. I feel like sometimes we take a wrong turn and God goes, "Huh. Well...guess we'll have to go this way..." and off you go on a strange detour, but he gets you there in the end, if you trust him. That's how I like to look at the years between 19 and 22, anyway. Just a strange detour on the crazy road of life. I know that I didn't do anything to get out of it on my own, but that God was nudging me (ok, dragging me) along the way to where I needed to go.
Hugs! So jealous that you got to hang for a gorgeous day in Madison with Piera!

  8. Omg, I need that frickin' coat like yesterday!! I want it! And you styled it perfectly with the PG dress. I'm glad that dress looks good on somebody because it wasn't doing anything for me. Sorry to hear about your divorce. But I'm glad you are seeing things positively and that makes all the difference! <3

  20. To me, it was the chartreuse that pulled the ensemble together. It highlights the jacket perfectly (and with just a hint of whimsy), and, though I can't credit you with the colour of the sky, that blue was certainly doing you every favour. Cool setting too (and nice pics, Piera). Everything about this set says Spring and Rebirth. Cool stuff.
