I'll be walking in this fashion show for a local secondhand shop I recently discovered.
Yep, I'm gonna be in a little fashion show. :) It's not like a big deal or anything--I'm not suddenly thinking I'm the next Karlie Kloss--but I'm still super-excited, because:
a.)Um, it's a fashion show and Imma be in it.
b.) It's for a great cause (the business was started to make sure all girls could attend prom/special events regardless of budget [they rent prom dresses/tuxes as well as sell them and other vintage/gently-used clothing]).
c.) I get to wear a fabulous dress from the 40s (a black, ruffle-y, one-shoulder number, WOO!).
So. On the off-chance that anyone lives near Grafton, WI (not my hometown, but close),
COME AND SUPPORT Stephanie's Prom Closet
and see me strut my stuff!
And I'll be attempting to white-girl shake my groove thang at the dance after the runway show (which--thrust me--will be enough entertainment to make the cover charge worth it).
If you can't come, then just do me a favor and pray that I don't fall flat on my face.
Anyway, on to the OOTD:
So my facial expressions in all these photos (taken by my mommy; thanks mommy!) seem to imply that I'm in pain....
Well, yours would, too if it were below zero degrees outside and you were trying to take outfit photos!! :-P
So please cut me a little slack. (You always do anyway, my darling readers: you keep coming back even when my photos are far from stellar.)
So THIS BLAZER. THIS BLAZER. It's sosososo good.
I had a GAP giftcard from Christmas, and I was planning on taking it right to the winter clearance and walking out with my arms loaded, buuuuut then something happened. I walked past this blazer on the way to the clearance, and simply could not shake it from my mind as I was trying everything else on. And that's because nothing compared to it. So I figured, what are giftcards for? I'm pretty sure it was the most expensive thing in the GAP store, but it was worth my giftcard plus a couple extra bucks. Casually elegant, yet age-appropriate and comfy as heck (it's a very think, but malleable sweatshirt-y fabric). Implies nautical flair without being too in-your-face, and can (and will) be dressed up or down.
Something about this outfit made me think of a flight attendant's uniform...feminine lapel + neck scarf, maybe? My subconscious is probably just obsessing over ways to get me on a plane to warmer climes.
There was something this outfit that irked me: my stupid leggings. I could not get them to stay inside my booties! Mostly for looks, but I also wanted them there for warmth... +sigh+ It's so hard being me, sometimes. ;)
Scarf: thrifted || Blazer: GAP || Dress: H&M || Leggings: old || Booties: Payless
